asmöd, a portmanteau derived from the words “massive & modulation“, is the musical guise of Michael Anthony John, a self-taught Audio / Visual artist and native to Portland, Oregon. Compulsive throbbing and penetrating beats, coupled with haunted soundscapes and nostalgic melodies make up Masmöd’s hypnotic approach to music as an organic and dreamlike experience. With intimate and ethereal sonic movements, Masmöd’s melodic drones wash in and out of focus like a forgotten ocean current, filling your eardrums with sonar-like frequencies and eerie, ghost-like textures. Like a fleeting trace of an elusive poltergeist.
