Hobnox™ is probably one of the most versatile, and innovative online collective of individuals coming out of Germany. They offer such a wide variety of online tools to use, it’s insane; really, they’ve created their own world. Although they’re still in beta, they’ve made leaps and bounds over other social networking sites & tools. Just to name a few, they offer an online tool, titled “Livetool”, and with it, you can create and broadcast your own webshow; it’s pretty impressive.
Another tool that they offer, and just so happens to be one of my personal favorites, is their “Audiotool.” When I first saw this, initially I was doubtful, because I thought, there is no way they could have optimized this to work as well as it looks. Well, I’m not afraid to admit, now, that I was wrong… to a certain degree. Obviously, it is fairly dependent on whether or not you have a decent graphics card, and at least a gig of ram, but if you have at least those minimum requirements, you can enjoy a plethora of classic Roland software emulated synths. One in particular is the Roland TB-303. They’ve seriously outdone themselves; not just with the UI, but the functionality is identical to a classic TB-303, and you actually get up to 5 minutes of recording time when you use all of these synths, which are completely customizable, and very comparable to their tangible counterparts.
Really, I could just go on and on about how great these virtual instruments are, and how Hobnox™ is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but you and I both know that is entirely subjective, so I leave it to you to decide whether or not they’re the bees knees. ;)
