Emoti-Chair translates music into tactile experiences

Emoti-Chair translates music into tactile experiences

For the first time ever on March 5th, 2009, a rock concert will be staged just for the deaf at Clifton’s Tavern in Toronto. The technology enabling such a feat is the Emoti-Chair, a device created by Ryerson University’s Centre of Learning Technology and the Science of Music, Auditory Research and Technology Lab. This chair basically translates sound frequencies into tactile experiences, such as vibration, motion, and even blasts of air. Whooo.

This one is probably my favorite. Via Jubru's Flickr photostream.

This insert really does make me happy, even without listening to a single sound! Via Jubru's Flickr photostream

Let’s face it, here at Nueva Forma, we’re suckers for vintage design. Polar Alert Studios has compiled a wonderful collection of the top 100 vintage cassette tape inserts, and after going through the slideshow, I’m feeling a bit nostagic and am compelled to make a mixtape the next time I get my hands on a cassette. Unfortunately, most cassette tapes don’t look as cool as they used to. There’s also a wonderful Flickr set of cassette inserts via Jubru’s photostream, which is where the images are from.

New albums on the Nueva Forma Shop!
February 10th, 2009 by Nueva Forma™

We’ve recently added two new albums to the Nueva Forma Shop, Being by Critical, and No School by Sleepyhead.

Critical - Being (digital & tangible release)

Critical - Being (digital & tangible release)

Critical’s music can be described as dreamy, indietronic pop backed by vocals, and his album Being can be purchased in digital and tangible (CD) form.

Sleepyhead - No School (digital release)

Sleepyhead - No School (digital release)

We also have the pleasure of distributing Sleepyhead’s digital hip-hop album No School, and while Sleepyhead may be part of the Dismal City crew, he’s still considered part of the Nueva Forma family.

Please give these albums a listen on the shop, and we hope you enjoy the music.

Thanks,
Nueva Forma

Mux I always bear the good news?

Relaunched as new exclusive platform for bands

Relaunched as new platform for bands

Muxtape.com, a mixtape website that was taken down due to a little problem with the RIAA last August, is now back up and running. This time, it’s a little different and is striving to compete with bigwigs such as MySpace, Facebook and Virb to offer a new platform for artists to promote their music. Since Muxtape.com is currently in private beta, and the creator Justin Ouellette has only invited 12 of his favorite bands to join, there’s limited sights and sounds to explore. However, it’ll be a few more weeks until sign up is open to the public and we’ll have a better idea of what Muxtape has up its sleeve. Mr. Ouellette has announced several features that will be rolled out.
