Video on how vinyl records are made
May 18th, 2009 by Nueva Forma™

Just found this informative video on how vinyl records are actually made, which is a crazy-complicated process. Despite the ups, downs, or chug-along of the music industry and the format wars, vinyl is still in popular demand (vinyl at Best Buy, anyone?), and I wouldn’t be surprised if it supersedes compact discs in the next couple years. We’ll have to see how vinyl dukes it out with USB albums, which is still the closest thing to a physical record that’s actually digital, for those who still care about the tactile experience. If you want to read up more on vinyl, check out wikipedia’s article on it.

Classic Records as Pelican Book Covers
May 12th, 2009 by elle™

I love LittlePixel’s Flickr set of what he describes as “Classic records lost in time and format, re-emerged as Pelican books.” If only such a thing existed. They are all quite gorgeous, and I’ve posted some of my favourites below. You can also discover more lovely little things at http://www.littlepixel.info.

Stumbled across these while searching for portable listening devices. Audio Technica’s AT-727 Sound Burger & AT-770 Mr. Disc. Yep! With names like those, it’s hard to believe that they never made the popular vote. Even though they may not be as portable as an iPod, it would be damn hilarious to catch someone trying to jog with one of these strapped to their leg. :)

Up to three downloads that never expire!
January 25th, 2009 by Nueva Forma™

We’ve just implemented a new feature on the Nueva Forma Shop that gives you up to three remaining downloads on your purchased digital music. These three remaining downloads never expire, so if your hard drive crashes and you didn’t make a backup of your tunes, you’ve got three more lives. We enjoy extending these kinds of conveniences to you in appreciation of your ongoing support. That’s why we only offer the highest quality music encoded at 320 kbps, DRM-free.

In the near future, we’ll also be providing FLAC-encoded music, which means the audio has absolutely no loss in quality, just like a CD. We’re working hard to release more tangible albums soon, and will be concentrating more on vinyl and USB rather than CD. The custom CD packaging for the Nueva Forma Social Club Vol. I is in the works, and should be available for purchase in limited edition batches next month. Please sign up for our Nueva Forma newsletter to stay in the loop about our label and artists.

Many thanks,
Nueva Forma
