Eraserhead Meditating / Design by: DLC

I’ve always been a fan of David Lynch. From his films to his artwork and photography, he is truly an original. Blue Velvet had such an impact on me I remember almost every detail about the whole night. I remember how everything looked different afterward. How everything was different. I was hooked. Eraserhead and Blue Velvet became the bible for me and my friends. Naturally Dune and The Elephant Man were in rotation as well and when Twin Peaks happened I was the happiest person in the world. David Lynch has a TV show? Are you kidding me? It was an exciting time.

Digital Downloads FYI…
December 20th, 2008 by Nueva Forma™

FYI for anyone making digital download purchases through our shop; since we’re still in beta, you’ll probably notice a lag time if you try and navigate our shop while simultaneously downloading your purchased digital orders from your account. This is one of the very few outstanding bugs that we’re working closely with Colorcubic™ to eliminate from our shop. We’ll be spending the majority of our weekend fixing this problem, so hopefully by Monday, the problem will be eliminated completely. Just so you know, this will NOT affect your orders, or any of the files that you download. This is merely a fix that we’re implementing to help optimize your shopping experience with us.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Sincerely,

team Nueva Forma

YUREX™ is music to my legs.
December 19th, 2008 by jem™

Energy is a big idea that isn’t going away any time soon. With our reserves on the downward spiral to doom, polar ice caps on the rise and the reality of vampire electricity on the move, it’s nice to know that Kayac, a Japanese design company, is putting their foot down to all of this. Then raising the ball of their heel up, then down, then up, then down again in rapid succession.

YUREX™ demo

No, the YUREX™ device isn’t an energy generator in that sense. Instead, this device, when strapped to your thigh, monitors and interprets your movements into what they term, “Your Own ‘Creative Beat’.” In the most basic terms, this device registers when your crazy legs start acting up. Then they relay those movements and impulses via USB to your computer and the computer generates music set to these leg movements

Your last free second of 2008
December 17th, 2008 by jem™

People have always been a bit too much when it comes to their clocks and time-keeping. Fall back this, Spring ahead that, Leap every four years; and now you get to worry about your second-hand behind one tick ahead. I can see Ed Wynn now in the Twilight Zone’s “Ninety Years Without Slumbering” giggling at jokes while bouncing off the ceiling with Dick Van Dyke and the Mad Hatter from Disney’s Alice in Wonderland and thinking to himself, “Well shit-in-a-can.”

Ed Wynn on Twilight Zone: "90 Years Without Slumbering"

Apparently the brains behind the International Earth Rotation and Reference System Service (IERS) have always been observing the Earth’s rotation unbeknownst to us “outsiders.” Every year the IERS judges if a leap second needs to be inserted into account with a “Bulletin C” message which reports whether or not to add a leap second in the end of June or December.

We’re Almost There!
December 14th, 2008 by Nueva Forma™

Hello to anyone who has actually visited the site within the last 48 hours. We would like to take this time to update you with our progress regarding the completion of our new site and store. As some of you are aware, these things take more time than expected (usually), and we assure you, our site will be completed very soon (hopefully within the next 24 hours).

We hope you’ll be patient with us in our efforts to finalize and work out the remaining bugs on our site, so that you, the user, may enjoy what we have to offer, with ease.

On another note, I would like to thank everyone who came out to Pi-Rem last night to celebrate & party with us. We were all very surprised and pleased with the turnout, especially since we only had approximately 48 hours to promote the event.

We hope everyone enjoyed themselves, and we hope to see you all again very soon. Also, we’ll be posting some pictures of the event later this evening. We really wanted to catalog the event, so if you were there, there’s a good chance we caught you in our cross hairs. ;)

Thanks again, and be sure to check back later this evening to see if we landed a photo of you.

Sensory Indulgence with KT: a listening room

Leave it to Tokyo Designers Week to bring out the big guns. This 20-foot container was designed by design studios MAT and Elastik along with Australian Creative Director, Lou Weiss. Weiss had been working on an installation dealing with Gustav Mahler’s “Kindertotenlieder” cycle for some time as a spacial design piece/inspiration. The unity of these three forces brings the KT to a shipping container near you. Well, no, actually. If that was true, we’d have two on order already. The shipping container was design and constructed specifically for TDW and won’t be available elsewhere.
